New Delhi: PM Vishwakarma Yojana was launched in September 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide financial assistance to artisans and craftsmen working with their hands and tools. The centrally sponsored scheme was launched to help artisans and craftsmen engaged in 18 professions.

PM Vishwakarma Yojana helps the following people:

Hammer and tool kit maker, locksmith, goldsmith (sonar), potter (kumhar), sculptor (sculptor, stone carver), tailor (darji) and fishing net maker, carpenter (suthar/badhai), boat builder armorer, armor maker, blacksmith, mason, basket/mat/broom maker/coir weaver, doll and toy maker (traditional), barber, stone breaker, cobbler/shoemaker /Shoe maker, garland maker (Malakar), and washerman.

What is Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana?

PM Vishwakarma Yojana gives recognition to artisans and craftsmen as they are issued certificates and ID cards.

The above mentioned people engaged in different types of work are given training of 5-7 days and advanced training of 15 days or more. The government also provides a stipend of Rs 500 per day.
The Center also provides a toolkit incentive of up to Rs 15,000 in the form of e-vouchers to artisans and craftsmen at the beginning of basic skill training.

Collateral free ‘Enterprise Development Loan’ is given under PM Vishwakarma Yojana. Eligible candidates are entitled to avail a loan up to Rs 3 lakh in two installments of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh with a tenure of 18 months and 30 months respectively at a concessional interest rate of 5 percent.

How to get loan under PM Vishwakarma Yojana

Applicants will have to complete the basic training process and only then they will be eligible to avail the first installment of credit assistance up to Rs 1 lakh. Candidates can apply for the second loan tranche if the beneficiary holds a standard loan account and has promoted digital transactions in his business or has received advanced training.
Beneficiaries get Rs 1 per digital transaction for every digital payment or receipt, up to a monthly maximum of 100 transactions.
